Bond

I don't really get what a bond is. I just got one. I see lots of people say they are licensed, bonded & insured. The little bond thingy says they'll pay out ten grand if I suddenly decide to turn to a life of crime. Isn't that what liability insurance is for? Do you have to pay back a bond?

A bond is only redeemable if you are in fact found guilty of doing something wrong to your client in a court of law, so if you have liability insurance a bond is of little value except, as you noted whe saying "licensed, bonded & insured" honestly, I put it in my ads, and the only licensing need I have in Arizona is a drivers license. I mean if you wanna question something in that ad line, check out the licensed part. Like I have a resale license, and I renew my city license to do business every year but the client doesn't have a clue. The really paranoid clients I have demand to see my drivers license & business card before they open their front doors

I forgot to say the bond is just like a small insurance policy. They generally have an amount printed like I have an NSO bond for $10,000
As I understand it that means if I am found guilty of stealing from my client and I'm found guilty in a court of law that, up to $10,000 will be paid to the injured party. I know almost every one I ever had says "place fingerprint or picture here", so as for actual ID card value I give it 0%

I'm sure they will fix it if you let them know, might take a month

Its just my middle initial. I could probably white it out if I needed to, but its not like I'm going to be showing my bond card to anyone. Even if I did, who would know it was wrong? :)

You should white it out, get a tiny picture & have it laminated. It almost looks like a real ID if you laminate it. One day some rich nutty client may wanna see it along with your ID and a business card.

If someone wants to give me enough money I'll show them pretty much anything. As long as a camera isn't involved.

I get all stubborn if I don't like the deal,
This one time "back at band camp" my client asked me to fix this door for a very proper over-rich lady. I was at the front door, which was broken and she asked me if "I'd like to go ahead & enter through the service entrance?" I said "what the hell for? Front door needs fixed & we're right here, right now. Let's fix it!" Which I promptly did. As a special "thank You" my client didn't call me again for a year. Apparently I was actually supposed to carry my tools from the van thru the service entrance & over to the frt door & back. The stupidity of my clients is sometimes only overweighed by the riches they possess. I will admit to a sensitivity on my part with the whole "service entrance" thing but I have found a way to make most of it better, now I have an extra fee schedule for holier than thou types. I put speed bumps on there too, 3 are free & then it's $5 per
