Handle lock is kickin' my butt

I was on a re-key job at a local business today, all went well until i ran into the final office in the back.
The door is secured by a Cal-Royal Satin Lever Handle.

Key-way is SC4 (6 pin cylinder)

I was unable to pick this lock for the life of me, and of coarse the tenants didn't have a working key...ugh.
Pick gun didn't work either.

After talking over options with the owner, we resorted to drilling the cylinder...I figured i would have a replacement on the truck and we would be good to go...come to find out the cylinder assembly has an odd groove in the bottom that must line up to the assembly.

All the cylinders i have on the truck do not match up to this assembly. I have looked online to order a replacement and cant find anything that replicates this...PLEASE HELP!

I have not worked with that type of lock, but there are several listed on ebay. Have you tried there.

McDonald Dash sells Cal Royal, it's likely cheaper to toss the whole thing in the trash and buy a new one. Too bad you didn't know how to impression a lock, cause you prolly spent that much time already looking around for a replacement.

Next time that happens use an under the door tool to open the door and then disassemble the lever from the inside out. Make the key and move on to the next one.

+1 on using a K22. Easier and quicker than picking in most cases.

The cylinders for Cal-Royal that you can use are the Ilco universal KIK cylinders, the cylinders for General or LSDA grade 2 locks. These only cost a few dollars.

You could have used a lever removal tool as well.

I will often make a key to another lock, mortise cylinder, or DB when I arrive on a rekey where no keys are available. It saves time.

I would spend no more than a couple of minutes on the Cal Royal, bumping usually works better than a pick gun.

That's more work than it is worth. I would only do that if the cylinder needed saving and if a lever removal tool didn't work. If a Cal Royal takes more than 30 minutes to service it is a losing proposition based on my labor rates and the cost of a replacement.

Actually the last time I used my lever remover tool on a Cal Royal it broke the little pot-metal tab off that holds the lever onto the lockset, then I had to toss the whole thing in the trash.

or bag the jamb and loid the latch. Disassemble from inside and twist tail piece with needlenose pliers, then pull retainer down and pop off lever. Repin, straighten tail piece, reassemble. Done. Prolly take a half hr or so.

I've not had it happen, but it isn't an expensive lock so not surprising.

I have gotten the handle disassembled. However the issue is finding a replacement 6 pin cylinder that has a mounting groove on the bottom. All the other commercial Cylinders i have or have seen are flush bottoms and the way this thing is set up...they wont slide into place.
