Which set out of these would you go with?

Hey all i've done a good bit of research on all these sets and have been trying to find the best prices etc, however i'm still having a hard time deciding. From what i've been reading about HPC in the other threads and favorite set thread i'm kind of leaning towards them.

I'm really thinking about the HPC Pro-Mixer set NDPK-24
which is a mix of the both the 2000 series picks and regular line from what i've read. It has 14 picks 5 tension tools and 5 extractors which i think 5 extractors is a little much for me but... I've seen this set as low as 55$

Or I could go with the HPC superior NDPk32 set which comes with more picks (22 picks 7 tension tools 3 extractors) priced as low as 58$ from what i can find

Also I might consider the Peterson Tri-fold or Bi-fold leaning more towards bi fold since i dont want a repeat pick set with dif. handles really

I started learning with a basic southord kit and am looking for a good step up, i mildy considered the 22pc Euro slimline but want to try another brand. Given the above and in my situation which would you go for? i'm worried that the pro-mixer hpc set still doesnt have enough picks for me but i've heard good things about the 2000 series picks. How is the quality/feel of these picks compared to the regular ones. Also how much of a need is there for slim line lock picks with the majority of the locks you'd pick - i've only done so many. This along question but i'd appreciate any response from people how have the above sets /picks

I got my hands on a Navigator set and I love them. There is nothing but hooks, rakes and dimple picks. The only near half-diamond is the extractor. This is becomming a favorite for me quickly in what spare time I have. I think they provide excellent feedback myself.

Remember: The denser the material used the better the feedback. I would personally recommend plastic handles for feedback. They seem to be better with that aspect.

As far as what you have listed I have never used the sets. Just singles and for a hobby I wouldn't suggest more then one extractor if it makes a difference in price.

I'd say go for the Pro-Mixer/ I've got mine on the way to add to the mass of tools I have. I was also thinking of the Superior pick set but if you look closely at the photos, lots of the picks are handle-less (HPC handles are incredible when compared to any other brand IMHO)

I dunno about others but i'm pleased with my southord mpxs32 that u can get for $43 here http://www.southord.com/catalog.asp?cat=Outlet. I've never tried the other picks so I can't really compare, but i haven't had problems with my southords.

I LOVE Peterson picks. The Bi-Fold set is a good buy but if money is really a significant factor in your decision then you could try the Just Picks assortment. I do have to admit, though, that I love their pick cases too. :P Peterson is hard to beat for durability or feedback, IMHO. I've got Petersons that I've sat on and they straightened out and went right on setting pins.

Another possible choice would be the Rytan Blue series. I have a set that I've been using when my bursitis acts up and my hand starts to get numb and they are great. They've got the largest (and probably best designed) handles that I've found and they give enough feedback that I can generally feel pins set even when I'm pretty much numb.

I have several HPC picks (the first set I ever purchased was an HPC 11 piece set and most of them are still around) and I feel better about them than SouthOrd picks. I keep 3 of their 2000 series in my every-day kit. My only real gripe with HPC picks is that they're still using riveted handles and I'm not a huge fan of those anymore.

HPC Superior pick set is my standard choice. Although the pro mixer set is excellent as well.

I actually use the non handled picks as well as the handled picks, so I like having them. Additionally I have a lot of my own picks in the case as well.

The Rytans are excellent picks if you can get them, as are the Petersons. The best Peterson picks though are the stainless steel picks.
