My favorite tool for this is an automatic center punch, but you can also use a center punch and a small hammer. To begin tap the punch straight onto the screw, in the outer section, on the top. Try to avoid messing up the place the screwdriver goes & just punch a dimple. Now place the punch into the dimple you made and angle the punch in the direction you want the screw to go, lefty loosey usually, and hit the punch. Watch the screw while you hit it with the punch, as soon as you see it begin to unscrew I usually put aside the punch and use the screwdriver to get it the rest of the way out. After a couple of whacks, make another dimple right across from the first one and again angle the punch so you will be unscrewing the screw & give another whack or two.
