Kerberos 308-lever lock with antidrill blocker

This is Russian Kerberos 308 lever lock. 8 levers. It has installed into the cover drill rsistant plate. Also it has interesting blocker. If somebody try to brake the lock stump than the lock will be deadlocked.


You can see the false notches on the levers.


Bolt plate:
1-Stump
2-Blocker lever
3-Springed blocking bolt

When the stump(1) is broken the blocker lever(1) is released the springed blocking bolt(3). And this bolt enters to engage whith these holes in lock case.

I like that spring loaded bolt. Do you have much of a problem with the blocker breaking?

I really think the Russians seem to have very ingenious designs.
At least I'm yet to see a similar solution in lock here.

Yes, you are right. This is spring loaded bolt.


No,the system is reliable. No false activation of the blocker usually.

Many interesting designs of the lever locks only.(5-6 exceptions) The quality of old equipment do not give the possibility to produce eurocylinders whith high quality and new design. To buy new equipment have no sense. Chineese cylinders and locks are very cheap.

Yes, relatively. In Moscow about 5-8%. In Russia <1%. Europian cylinders(Mottura,Cisa,Kaba,Evva) is expensive for usual russian.

That is a good question. Geographically: Small part European most part Asian.
Politically and culturally:I don't know. That is hard to answer Probably partly.
I don't think there is a definitive answer to that...

This is probably not the best lever lock to start out as a complete beginner in lever lock picking, but I am interested in getting some Russian lever locks to play with eventually. If Kale is found in Russia, one would think that with the amount of trade and interactions between the two countries Russian locks would be found here in Turkey, but as far as I can see that is not so.

Have you ever been to Antalya, Kerti? I have some Russian friends who live there...

I had seen this lock advertised on locks.ru years ago and at that time I thought the blocking mechanism was like a traditional lever lock anti-pressure device i.e. that it would resist picking by being activated by typical picking forces between the stump and the levers. But I thought as it didn't appear to have a reset mechanism it would be vulnerable to vandalism or to serious accidental lock-outs if you tried to use the wrong key.

But now thanks to your photos I see it is only designed to resist forced entry, not non-destructive opening.

Just to confirm, is that correct? You have to actually destroy or deform the stump for it to activate?
