What Lock Pick sets should I get for locks in Australia?

Postby Mr-Chapel » 7 Nov 2004 1:55

Hi there,

I am considering purchasing the MPSX-20 20 piece Lock Pick set but was wondering if this set can be used on locks in Australia or should I be looking at purchasing the Slim Line Euro sets out now.

I'd like to here what other fellow Australian lock-pickers are using.

Thanks for any advice.

:D

just the ordinary picks will be fine.
The best lock pick is C4 followed by a sledge Hammer

I have to say that I got that exact same set and in hind sight with that I had bought a slimline set.

IMO they're more versitile.

Thanks for all thew reponses.

Whitehat, you said the slimline picks were more versatile. Was that because you can pick more locks or because the slimmer ones allow more "room" to work with.

Thanks again.

I've found that the non-slimline ones get very cumbersome when attempting to pick locks with heavily warded or small keyways - sometimes the tang of the pick touches the pins, which isn't something you want to happen generally, othertimes the thick tip of the hook (which is the pick that I use mostly) disturbs other pins if you don't hit the pin right on.

besides, the slimline ones will open anything that the normal ones and even some that they can't - so I'd say if in doubt, get the slimline ones. or at least get the standard ones with a slimline hook and diamond on the side.

but that's just my Opinion.

Yes mate as previously stated normal picks should be fine. But if you can get a couple of slimlines, maybe a hook and a diamond that would be awesom!

Hmmm thanks all.

I'm doing a total turn-around and now looking at the C1510 as opposed to the MPXS-20 because of the slim-line design. I've noticed that these slim-line sets don't come with a broken key extractor (or do they?) Any thoughts on the C1510 compared to the MPXS-20 or what slim-line set to purchase? I want a set that opens a wide variety of locks.

The cost of the C2010 is a little beyond my budget.

:?
