I recently received this machine the hudson model 598b as a graduation gift from Ashworth College and I have to say I am quite impressed. It is higher quality than I thought it would be. It is 110v, and automatic I was expecting to get the Ilco mini mite which is manual. They sent it with 50 kw1 blanks, I have to say it does fine work cutting residential keys. As soon as I get some blanks I'd like to make some automotive keys in it to see if it works just as well with them. I was really surprised by the size it is huge and heavy and lack of noise, I was expecting it to sound like a furious angle grinder not the hum it gives out. Another feature I really like is the fact that it has a manual crank if you don't have power, for an SHTF fanatic like myself that is a major plus. I feel like this machine is going to give me a good start, I looked up the value and the hudson website claims the value is like 698$ I haven't been able to find any other listings but I can't imagine the school sending something with that kind of msrp unless they had a deal with the company. Any questions?
