5 French locks breakdowns (big pictures again)

Postby FrenchKey » 3 Oct 2015 13:19

Hi,

I've had time to play a bit, here are 5 locks I took apart to make cutaways :
(I put links instead of pictures because they are pretty big)

Bricard Supersureté :
It's a "kidda" wafer lockwith a 3 blades key. Wafers are pushed by a ball bearing, which can be on top, right or bottom of keayway.
On the picture, the red parts are from a lock that uses a key with a moving ball bearing in one place (there is no ball in the lock at that place, it's the one just before the end)
The yellow part uses a different keyway and the key has no ball bearing in it (the one place where a ball is missing is just because it's lost during breakdown)

Here is a zoomed view of a slice so you can clearly see what's happening

Fontaine 5 pumps
This one is masterkeyed, that's why there can be 2 notches instead of 1. Nothing fancy, works like a Bramah lock basically.

ISEO Cavers Cavith
This one was tricky to take apart, a lot of pieces, not meant to be taken apart, several sealed parts... Anyway, an interesting one, with 5 "pumps" (pins actually) + 3 pins, all 8 being security pins (Key pins and Drivers pins), and impressive anti-drilling materials (pins, shields, rods...)

Laperche Rols (6 pumps)
Works like a Bramah lock, nice anti-picking but not so hard to pick though

Laperche GemmCode 5
Classic 5 pins cylinder, but the cam will not turn on external side unless you push and keep pushed the 2 side rods (center in the picture). You can see that the 2 cores are not the same from the back and the key has a side milling at the tip (not very clear on the picture but you can see it a little).

I hope you like it ;)

A supersureté padlock ? very unusual, I'd love seeing a picture if you can

BTW, if you have any question about those locks, I'll try my best to answer it.

Here it is. http://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=59078&p=435335&hilit=bricard+supersurete#p435335
I had wondered previously if one or two of the Bricard's bittings were redundant, but your pictures explain it nicely. Thanks!

There are pics in Graham Pulford's book, as well as the supersurete.
