The camera would still be able to give me direct notifications, although no images.

If you secure all your windows and doors and someone wants to get in they will break into your neighbors crawl through the attic and come in through the ceiling. Assuming you are on a second floor they can just come in through the floor or beat/kick/ram the door completely down.
I know what you mean, but those intrusions would leave traces unless we imagine some highly unlikely scenario.

With best practices followed you are low risk for attack unless you just open it up to the world and beg someone to come and look at you. I am not trying to sell you on the idea but this with better control of entry/exit points can immediately and irrefutably tell you who/what/when/where and how. If you use motion detection and receive notifications then you will have evidence of whatever intrusion you believe could take place.
This remains true even if they defeat the camera once in place.
Good point about the motion detection. I will go check out some affordable
jbrint wrote:Also a reality is if you use WiFi which I assume you already do, then you are already vulnerable to attack via internet. The camera is as safe as your computer.
In which sense do you mean I’m already vulnerable? I know that my computer can be hacked, but do you mean that someone could turn my webcam against me, or that I also need so secure my camera, if it is connected through my computer?

I understand you aren't concerned with a brute force attack. So you have two requirements, make it obvious and not easy.
Abloy and silent alarm.
Silent alarm is also a good option for me I guess, but doesn't they require that you pay a monthly fee to a company.
Abloy could be an alternative to the Evva MCS, but from a short reading on the subject, it appears to me, that they are very similar in terms of the quality of security they provide.
