Writing the way you do makes you stand out like a prom queen in a biker bar - not good...

Unless you're one of the bikers?

Seriously though, SFGOON is correct - a little in the way of spelling, punctuation marks and the odd capital letter to denote the start of a sentence really makes it a lot easier to understand what you're getting at. Many of the posters here are a little older than your average SMSer and were brought up in the days when spelling was considered not just useful but a life skill and funnily enough, they're often the ones who provide the most comprehensive and useful answers to questions. For your (and this applies to any posters) best interests if you address your question in a way which the old fuddy-duddies can understand you're a lot more likely to get an answer and for everyone's best interests your questions will be searchable using the correct spelling of words. I know I'll be searching for this post by the words 'wat', 'iam', 'sears' and 'ur' if I ever need to find it again but it'd really be a lot easier to search for if you spelt correctly to start with.

Don't take this as an attack - take it as constructive criticism. As a suggestion, if you don't know how to spell a particular word, go look it up and try and remember it. There are dozens of online dictionaries and you can even plug the word in Google and you'll often be given the correct spelling. I say this for your benefit - try and picture the face of the guy (more than likely an old fuddy-duddy) looking at your job application when every second word is misspelt.

This post has been brought to you by the letter 'h', the period (.) and the [Shift] key...

PS.
Wat - this is a temple in Thailand.
Iam - Ian's brother?
Sears - a store in America I believe.
UR - short for unrestricted.

I think we should have a rule that you can't post until you have 75 posts. That'll keep all of these annoying posts from popping up. (yes, I see the irony)

An application wouldn't work. Think about it, so many people that come here are here to learn and take in information, they're newbies to the art, so they wouldn't be able to answer any lockpicking/smithing questions that might appear on the application (if that's what you had in mind). Other than that, the only questions that you could ask would be basic info (name, address, etc.) and i doubt most people would want to give that information openly.
But even if some kind of application was thought up, people would always be able to lie as there wouldn't really be any way to verify most of the stuff.
Or you could possibly ask some kind of essay questions, such as "What do you hope to gain (or contribute) by joining LP101?" or "Why do (did) you wish to learn the art of Lockpicking, and list at least 2 benefits of knowing how to bypass locks"..but even those could be faked :?

thank you for not attacking me...its kinda hard being new to something..even worse when you go on a site where everybody thats new goes and post the same things..but you knwo what at some point everyone who says oh great another newb..chances are you were a newb.and yeah maybe if your in your older days and you didnt have the internet.i understand that you mostlikely got physical teaching.......so that means thats you really didnt have to go ask 1 billion people for help..but i do....so for the couple of guys who have helped me thank a million...and to the other folks who think less of people who may not know as much as them.i just have pity because whats the point of knowing an "art" when you cant share it with a younger generation.....

muchas gracias

:?

The reason the people here attacked you is because we probably didn't quite understand your typing, not only that (from what i was able to make out in that post) you asked something that could have been very easily found if you had just attempted to use the search button or if you had just simply looked around a bit more. If you had typed properly and in a fashion in which it could be read without confusing someone, you would have gotten a much better response and no one would have attacked you. I would like to apologize on behalf of the people who attacked you, and i hope we did not devour your interest in picking, and hope you continue to visit this forum :D

mrknowitall, you're right, everybody was a beginner at first. What determines whether or not you're a "noob" is how you go about changing that. Some people read the information that's freely given and easily obtained, and thus don't clutter the board with completely useless posts. If you had even bothered going to the main board, you would've noticed many floated posts, all with plenty of info for a beginner.

lol it's immediately cheaper becuz you dont have to buy picks (thats if you dont own some already)
in the long run i guess its more expensive becuz then you gotta pay for a new lock. And a new door if you miss with the hammer
