Diplomat safe acting strange

Postby Ace13 » 29 Feb 2016 23:21

I have an 15 year old Diplomat 125E. The other day I went to open it, punched in the code and the chime did not go off. The unit just beeped once. I installed fresh batteries and tried again to the same result. I am in Canada and have been unable to reach the company in Australia, they are not replying to my emails for help... Is it in some kind of lockout mode? How on earth did that happen? Can I reset it?

Thank you.

If you dont want to post your info to the forum
You can apply to the manufacturer for a."mastercode" to unlock when you dont know the code

Thank you for that information. When I Google'd Diplomat it gave me the .com.au website. The keypad is exactly like the one in the pdf you linked. Of course ( unfortunately ) being 15+ years on I do not remember the factory pass code. I was hoping that using the current pass code twice I a row would work but no.

Hopefully my request for the mastercode will come through.

Thank you.

Do you have a low battery warning that gave an early signal of batteries becoming low? Did lock give any advanced warning like having to reenter code to open at times?

Problem could be the low batteries and lock may have entered a form of lock out. If left alone for extended time, will lock respond? You may need a mastercode that can be obtained from mfg with serial number. If serial number is not evident on case, check under batteries.

Unfortunately what you described is far too common with digital safe locks. I have dealt with many that worked perfectly then locked and refused to respond to any code. A trick that worked on one lock--and others are welcome to laugh all you want. Take batteries out and leave them out for several hours; install new, quality batteries; try your regular code; replace lock. Customer's safe now has S/G dial lock

I have contacted the manufacturer but no response yet.

Just a thank you to all who read and posted. I did get the safe open, had to have a little touch of "The Fonz". There appears to be a short somewhere in the cabling, maybe in the keypad. I was able to gently jostle the wires from the battery pack while repeatedly punching in my code. BINGO! Time for a new safe, maybe this time with no electronics.

Thank you for posting

Just a question or 2
How old is your safe?

Have you thought of removing the standard electronics
And jerryrigging a mechanical mechanism?
