Do you have a low battery warning that gave an early signal of batteries becoming low? Did lock give any advanced warning like having to reenter code to open at times?
Problem could be the low batteries and lock may have entered a form of lock out. If left alone for extended time, will lock respond? You may need a mastercode that can be obtained from mfg with serial number. If serial number is not evident on case, check under batteries.
Unfortunately what you described is far too common with digital safe locks. I have dealt with many that worked perfectly then locked and refused to respond to any code. A trick that worked on one lock--and others are welcome to laugh all you want. Take batteries out and leave them out for several hours; install new, quality batteries; try your regular code; replace lock. Customer's safe now has S/G dial lock
