Hello and welcome to the forum!

I own the Southord C-1500 set which is durable and works well in US and in trickier European keyways. You can get it from the forum sponsor and even get 10% off using coupon code PICK13

Hope this helps,

I would suggest Sparrows or Peterson for single picks. they both offer .015 picks and diff handle options for pricing. As for kits, I can't personally speak to any, but from what I've seen of reviews the major brands are all good. I mostly buy single picks.

I have found that Peterson and Sparrows picks that are 0.025 thick are barely too thick for American locks, but will glide in if you polish them up a bit. So instead I use the Peterson Euro Slenders at 0.018 thick. Not only is this great with Americans but 0.018 is excellent for most euro cylinders as well. a set of 10 picks will run just under $70.

However, I have recently bought the Tremendous Twelve Pick Set from TOOOL.US, for $30, and it comes with 6 picks, and 6 tension wrenches, and I am VERY pleased with it. Not only did a lot of engineering and research go into the profile of those picks, but they used different alloys compared to the normal 301 Stainless everyone else is using. These are very thin, i dont have a micrometer to tell you how thin but they are comparable to the 0.018 thick petersons.

I use my customs the most but if you cant make your own or are having trouble making them then I 2nd on the peterson .018's they work great on American and are still tough enough for most everything else. My 2 cents would be buy singles and get a gem, hook 1, and over reach. Southord also has slimlines w/wo handles, I think they are .020 iv picked a lot of Americans with them and their around $2 a pick without handles and I like their deforest hook. Also with Americans top of the key tension is probably the most preferred and seems that a lot of people like the peterson pry bars. I cut and grind my own outta stainless knives etc or you can put an L bend in the wider wiper blades/bristles and 5 mins. of file work will be just as effective.

I have a feeling the OP, who hasn't been on since the week he posted this in March, was looking for picks for locks found in the USA and in Europe. I bet a lot of beginners aren't aware that American Lock is a brand, which may lead to some confusion when they ask for picks for American locks.

That's so funny I never thought of that good point. The industry I work in these are so common for safely locking out equipment I see hundreds of them but I can see how someone new may have never encountered them.
