Brinks Body & Best Core

Postby Exodus5000 » 18 Nov 2004 11:50

I was in wal-mart and happened by the "marked down" aisle. I noticed they had a brinks solid brass door key compatible lock that was $15.00 marked down to five. http://www.lockcity.com/brinks/doorKey.asp

It has a removable cylinder with 5 pins but drilled to 6 pins. It also came with a packet of pins so that the user can repin it to their house key.

The cylinder isn't all that great. It was easily picked even though the machinery on the cylinder was very sloppy. My question is, I recently bought 2 Best 6 pin cylinders, and i'm wonderin if I could use those cores on the brinks padlock body. I'm not sure about the specification of compatibility with Best and Brinks products.

Thanks guys.

Nope. Sorry but the Brinks rekeyable stuff is really not compatible with anything(except Brinks cylinders). If you really want some padlocks for your Best cores, message me and I can get you some Abus SFIC padlocks at cost.

Is that a serious offer for best cores padlocks at cost?

Sure. If you're willing to pay the postage the Abus 83/45IC 1in. runs $8.10 apiece. If you want the SFIC with it, knockoffs run around $6-7 each and the genuine Best cores are only slightly more expensive. Is there really an interest here? If there is I might have to post this in Buy-Sell-Trade.
