I just bought an Abus 83/45 with the 323 core (everest). They dont explain that the locks do NOT have the slider or even a place to put a slider. Thats pretty shifty. Comes with the everest key, has slider cut. Anyone else make this mistake? Dont even know how to handle this, if i can even handle.

Yes. That side pin. Its got 6pin cyl, but not the side. I thought it was a slider. Looked like slider. Key has the cut for it too. Flase advertising

if you can snap a pics of everything, its hard to see what you mean without a way to see it I have not had any problems with anything from ABUS but there is a chance that something got messed up in the factory.

So there is no pin in the back of the keyway?
ABUS is a pretty good company. If you received a bad part, they will replace it. Calling them deceptive as hell and throwing out claims of false advertising seem a bit inflammatory if you haven't given them the opportunity to fix the problem.

There is no place for the pin anywhere on the cylinder. Manufactured that way. You own a 83/45 with 323 cylinder that has a pin?

It isn't defective. This is so that you can key into a system with the Everest keyway. They make a C123 and a C145 as well as one that is a composite. If you want a real Everest cylinder you can buy the Abus that accepts a kik cylinder.

Thanks cledry for the clarification. OrMeanGene, how about a different tittle for the topic? This one looks written by a disappointed and angry customer, and now you should only be disappointed. Cheers

No they've never had the slider, probably aren't allowed to mfg it due to schlage patents. I will also note the new GMS brand cylinders for Everest do not either. As mentioned you will need to buy the less cylinder version and add a OEM schlage Everest if you want the slider pin

Ya thats pretty crappy that they dont tell you this. You cant even add the pin yourself, since theres no spot for it. Still disappointed. Thanks cledry for that. Im sure i have an abus somewhere that accepts kik lol(for cledry).
And saying that their deceptive isnt a knock that all abus is crap and angry. Im not writing from place of anger. I love abus locks, have a bunch, and will continue to own.

Semi deceptive as hell. You made me laugh. Just to avoid misunderstanding, I would have thought too that a padlock with an everest key came with an everest lock. In this case it's just a padlock compatible with an everest system. So I would be disappointed too. The reason I suggested you to change the thread title is simple. You assumed one thing and they meant another one. I don't believe they tried to scam you. So deceptive as hell seemed a bit angry to me. Just a friendly suggestion, not a moderator request. Cheers

Are you sure the key was supplied by ABUS? Not by the seller?
