Mauer DT1 side lever?

Postby greengrowlocks » 10 May 2017 22:44

About a week ago I received this Mauer DT1 cylinder along with a few other locks. It's a 6 pin lock with a side lever. The side lever is depressed by a "washer" type thing in the key. After setting all the 6 pins I get good rotation but cannot set the side lever. I see it clearly through the keyway and have pushed both in (towards the side of the cylinder and pushed it back (as if the key was sliding in) but no matter the force it doesn't want to move. I'm afraid I may deform it if I press any harder. Is there a trick to setting this lever I'm not aware of?

Best pic I could do of the lever. It's the brass thing above the pins on the right side.

Have you tried to push it before starting to rotate the plug? If it's similar to a CISA pin, controlled by a moving element in the key, it must be pushed up before rotating the plug, otherwise it get stuck and block the cylinder.

Cheers :)

Thanks for the suggestion. I did try that but I got it all figured out today. In my stupidity I realized that the "lever thing" I mentioned earlier is actually just a protrusion that pushes the washer in the key towards the other side of the cylinder which depresses the actual lever. So I thought the protrusion was the actual lever but in reality the lever was on the other side of the keyway. The actual lever is flush with the keyway on the left side.

So tonight I picked to a false set, then set the lever (on left side of keyway) after that it was just nudging a couple pins then open.

Thanks,
GGL
