Old key machine identification

Postby ROTTWEILER » 1 Mar 2018 13:41

Good day. I am hopeful someone can start me on the right direction.

I have two machines that I am looking to restore and display.

1) Keil 1 1/2 (with motor)
2) National model 200 (with a light shaft screw port on the back)

What I have done so far as for looking is:
I have checked Google patents. Some returns but I am unable to find anything possible due to search terms of "Keil model 1 1/2 or National 200"
I have done Google searches which has pointed me to a website "Simon says". I don't want to waste his time as this is just a hobby and not a business nor am I a locksmith. I am thinking I might have to ask him about membership if I am not able to find anything out.
I have searched this forum under old machines and am reading that the national model 200 is the same as a Cole 200? not sure.

What I am looking for on both machines is the following:
who: made
where: made
when: made (year)

( I am unable to attach photos at this time so ill understand if age identification is hard.)

Hopefully that will help me narrow down an exploded view or manual as well as any other information that will help in the tear down and restore.
I do know the information might be lost due to age of machines.
The Keil 1 1/2 is a real beauty but needs some TLC as well as help with a "shut off switch" fix as it doesn't shut off when carriage is returned.

As said I am going to display as well as have planed to frame and place above the machines the exploded view.

If anyone is able to help or point in the right direction I thank you.

If not sorry for wasting anyone's time.

Respectfully

Would you be able to attach photos at some time in the near future?

(are you having trouble with the forum, a place to upload photos, or just a digital camera or smart phone?)

We're here to help if you need any technical assistance.

Thank you for your help so far.
I am not sure if pictures will show but here I try.
This is the National 200.
I will have to post the Keil 1 1/2 tomorrow.

That's a nice little machine, and yes, your photos all show up well. You may put as many as you want in each post, no limit.

Thank you.

Now to clean and restore or custom for display.
I am wondering what the lamp looked like.

Waiting for some to see and suggest further or provide details.

Keil 1 1/2 should be up today.

Respect.

From all the photos on ebay and google image search, only this photo has something attached where I'm assuming a lamp would go.

A bit of isopropyl alcohol makes a good solvent

Thank you for suggestions and help so far.
I was able to open my eyes and fine a patent number on my National as well as the supplied photo.

Ok so here is my Keil 1 1/2. I am finishing the Cole restore before starting the Keil.

Again i am looking for exploded view, date, patent number or anything that can help.

All 200s that I've had came with the 23RF cutting wheel.

Is that a searchable Id I could use or would another one be a better one to hunt a 23RF cutter down.

This one i ha e only has the following markings.

You don't have to limit yourself to the 23RF. I've replaced some with a CU5 and they worked just fine.
