Help Identifying multi pin cylinder lock

Postby jocoo26 » 16 Sep 2018 17:41

Hi everyone. I found a strange looking lock in a parking lot and figured I would add it to my collection. The cylinder itself is in a casing I have never seen before. The casing has 2 ball bearings towards the bottom. After removing 2 set screws I was able to remove the cylinder from the casing. Upon further inspection of the cylinder I noticed that it has 3 different pin sets. There are pins coming from the top and both sides of the cylinder. It looks like a commercial interchangeable cylinder to me but I've never come across anything like this. I looked up Mul-T locks but didn't find anything that resembled what I have. I have searched the internet with everything I thought of to describe it but still nothing. Hoping someone here has seen or knows what I've got. I have many pictures to try and help. There are no markings on the casing. On the cylinder above the keyhole is the letter B inside of an upside triangle. On the side of the cylinder is SQ06 and LK2075. Please let me know if any other information is needed and thanks for any info.

that's an interesting lock, I wonder what it is for. Looks very custom and industrial, like a vending lock, something for a 18 wheelers king pin, or perhaps a gate or roll down shutter gate.

the core is a generic knock off of a Kaba Gemini lock mechanism. look up Kaba Gemini Dimple Lock on google. Could be a Sargent Keso cylinder as well.

here is a Sargent Keso core inside a Sargent padlock body:

usually custom stuff like this is made by vending lock companies such as L.A.I or baton or E.S.D. but I dont know which company uses an upsidedown triangle with a B in the middle as their logo.

which state/country are you located in? what kind of parking lot was this. would large trucks or machines park at this parking lot? is it a very rough neighborhood? I ask because this is more than likely sold as a high security lock.

Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for your reply. I'm on Long Island, NY. It was found in an office building parking lot. I know they also use the lot for car shows and such, so this could literally be from anything. Seems the KABA Gemini is the only type so far that mentions having 3 sets of pin tumblers. Would love to get this thing apart!

don't forget the Sargent Keso, they are very similar to the Kaba Gemini.

Sargent is in New Haven, CT close to Long Island, so perhaps some local company makes these and uses locally made Sargent Keso or generically made cores in their lock body. Kaba Gemini in the USA isn't very common, but since the patent expired, there have been some generic versions made for the vending industry.
