Disneyland Vault Door

Forgot how to dial the combination on that old safe? Think you got the right numbers but the handle is stuck? What safe should you buy? Ask your safe questions here!

Beautiful!

Three banger time lock but only one indirect drive combination lock...

Looks like it hasnt been serviced in awhile.. I see fingerprint and spot rust marks..

Mickey needs to get busy with some polish and oil...

I once stayed in a hotel in New Orleans where the foyer used to be a bank. They had kept the really beautiful vault door, fixed in open position on display so to speak, but covered it with a plexiglass pane to keep people from poking around in the mechanism. :)

Pemlock,

I stayed there! I think the foyer now has a small restaurant or in it. Can't quite recall the name.

I did an archeological dig and found some pictures. It was in 2002, so not a great picture with the camera I had back then...

The hotel was called "The Whitney" and was in an old building just outside the French Quarters, looking a little out-of-place when the rest of the block had been replaced by glass, steel and concrete...

... and I see that it still is in business: http://www.whitneyhotel.com/

Anyway, getting a little off-topic, but I thought it could serve as an idea on what to do with an old vault door. :)

Pemlock,

I recognize that hotel! Originally called The Pavillion, and a landmark for 100+ years. I think it was purchased and re-done just a while ago, the old construction was largely removed because it's need old-school repair methods, which took a lot of time and a lot of skill. Sad, but change is inevitable.
