Help Identifying this lock and how to open?

Postby Doctauri » 2 Feb 2020 21:51

My parents recently passed away, and while going through the house, I realized that I can't find a key to this lock. I don't even know what it's called to try to google how to open in. I'm hoping someone here can help me identify it and point me in the direction to get it open.

Chinese Trunk Lock or Chinese Cabinet Lock

look for a key that looks like this person's key:

if you're crafty you can make a key like this: https://www.banggood.com/Chinese-Antiqu ... rehouse=CN

An interesting post. The lock is simple, but unless you've seen one before, the mechanism is a mystery.

Nice that this forum brings up such oddities.

I have a small Version, You can make Key out of a wiper blade, fold over like a tall U, then push into the 2 Parallel slots, it will push 2 retainers apart to open.

You mean it will push the two retainers together to open. ;)

It may be together, just remember when I got it a couple years ago, that tool would work.
