Old Post Office Box Locks

Postby Mosey » 14 Oct 2023 21:22

I have a bunch of old (1920 ) era post office box locks. They don’t have keys. They look like 6 pin locks.
How can disassemble the locks, to clean up and make a new key for them?

What country? If they were USPS locks they probably use the reverse Yale paracentric keyway and that is apparently restricted by law to USPS within USA (breaching that law is a Federal felony). Seems these blanks are available outside the USA. Seems that years ago USPS 'snaffled' that keyway for its own use rather than paying Yale or another manufacturer to tool up for a special USPS keyway.

The blanks are available in the US, too. Just need to know the various names of the key blank.
