Thats not a bad job for a pick made with a hand file, if you havn't used a pick before read the MIT guide, it will tell you how to use picks

filing the shaft

Postby raimundo » 14 Jan 2005 14:56

Since your filing by hand, remember that the pickshaft does not need to be much longer than a key, just a bit of clearance for the tensor, and there you are, if you had put a key in the photo, we could have seen that the blade you are using is one of the small ones. if that pick handle starts to chafe you hand, wrap in in tape at the very least.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!

Postby Geek142 » 17 Jan 2005 22:19

I was planning on trying to make a double ball pick but then i decided it would be to hard to get a perfect circle

And i was wondering could i use junior hacksaw blade to make a tension wrench or will it be to weak

tension wrench with juniors

Postby digital_blue » 17 Jan 2005 23:53

Hey Geek142.

If you haven't already, check out Pyro's video on pickmaking. I found it quite helpful. He details how to make tension wrenches from junior hacksaw blades. Well worth the few minutes (or hours on dial-up) it took to download it. You will find a link to the video by searching. It is somewhere in the FAQ section.

they are nice, i remember my first picks, they really sucked. making it with a file must of been really hard but they look great, good job.
