Door won't open, is this normal?

I picked my front door and the cylinder turned but it stopped at the point of where it's supposed to open the lock and wouldn't go. I didn't want to snap or bend my tension wrench so I tried to turn it with a thin knife but that didn't move it either :?: I was scared of messing up my lock so I stopped trying, I guess that time I should have just really pushed it harder.
Anyway I also have a indoor schlage lock (the one with a button/the thing you turn on one side and a keyhole on the knob os the other side). Again I picked it and the cylinder moved but this time the cylinder kept spinning and it never moved the actual bolt. Is there anything strange about schlage locks or is mine broken?

I am not familiar with the schlang lock but try pushing a pick to the back of the key way we have to do this with euro cylinders to engage the cam first

Two suggestions- first, are you turning it the right way, and second, is the door already unlocked? Try the lock with a key and see if it shows the same behavior. The schlage knobs I'm familiar with usually allow you to turn the key only a quarter turn or so. That's enough to unlock the door and then you open it by turning the knob (or just twisting the key harder).

newguy: When you picked the first lock, did the plug get stuck exactly at the 180 degree point? If so, put one of your pick in upsidedown and use it to lift the driver pins up and out of the keyway. Just raise the pick as high up in the keyway as you can, and use your torsion wrench to turn the plug. Same thing happened to me the first time I picked a deadbolt. I thought for sure I'd screwed up the lock. :)

As for the second lock, if I understand correctly this is a key in knob type lock with a depressable button that locks the lock? If so, when you pick the lock and the plug starts to turn, does the button pop out? If it does, the lock is now unlocked. If not, I suspect you picked the lock in the wrong direction. Try picking the other way.

Hope this helps! Happy picking!
