Currently, Schlage Commercial products use the new Everest C123 as the stock keyway. It replaces the 6-pin Schlage C as the standard. It's been that way for a couple of years.

The cylinder has a check pin that interacts with a feature on the blank. This allows for patent protection on the blanks so that Schlage can be the sole source.

Residential locks use the SC1 - 5 pin key standard.

Is there only one standard Everest keyway?

C123 is the stock product keyway and is normally supplied for keyed different cylinders. Factory masterkey systems are started on C145 and extended to other keyways as necessary. As I recall, their are 9 simplex key sections with several masterkey sections along with a grand master section.

everest

Postby raimundo » 24 Mar 2005 10:36

since the everest has a pretty simple trick to it, it seems like a special tension blade could be made to solve that for all varients, the problem hasn't come up even once for me, though I have a couple of the cutdown common type keys made to apply tension with in some kit somewhere, it seems that the keys have a cut on the lifter ridge (made that terminology up on the fly here) just to make it non applicable as a renegade primus blank.

The only real problem is that the check pin is located near the rear of the cylinder on standard cylinders and large format interchangeable cores. It's located at the front on Everest small format cores.
