Hehehe am back :)

Bad news is i never even managed to get 2 pins in. To balance 2 pins on a spring and then insert the chamber thing is solid so i gave up. MAybe i should just by a new lock and stay away from taking them apart.

Could you maybe post a link to the discussion you're talking about? Or post this reply on that discussion? A lot of us have no idea what you're talking about. Thanks!

Aw... what the heck... I'll guess:

You are trying to reassemble a pin tumbler lock?

Right?

Sorry you're not doing so well Kevin. By the way, you don't have to balance two pins on the spring, it's just the one pin (not that that isn't hard even so). The other pin goes in the plug later on.

Ok I'll put a foot out and hope I succed where others have failed in explaining this......

You want two pins in your lock, first tkae the plug(the part you pulled out of the main body of the lock.) and put two pins in where you want them.
NOTE if you forgot what order they were in put the key into the plug and put the pins in if its in the correct place th top of the pin should be level with the plug and thus the key will beable to open the lock again in the future otherwise you will be liited to picking.

At this poit we should have two pins in the plug so that when you insert the key the pins are lifed and level with the plug not higher or lower than the edge of the plug.

Step2 Now on to the main body of the lock, you want to put a spring and driver pin in the two places corresponding to where you put the pins in the plug. placing it upside down and dropping two springas into it I find easiest. next take the plug (careful not to turn "upside down" and let the pins fall out)insert it slowly till its near where you put the first spring. Take some tweezers and a driver pin place the driver pin over te hole and press dwon then slide the plug back to cover that. Repeatwhere the second spring was placed and then push the plug all the way back.

Turn and remove the key you now have a two pin lock that can be opened with the original key. When opening it again unless you attach a new metal dealie(forgive me I haven't got all the terminalogy yet) at the back of the plug when you open the lock be careful not to pull forwrds or springs and pins start flying.

just read through the last discussion!

its really easy, you've got a bit of your lock with a hole going through it and a bit the same sort of size that fits nicely inside and turns round to open the lock, this has the key in! with me so far?

right, now you get a pen or something the same thickness (see the picture!!)

Image

yes the picture is crude, i know this! but then again, so is this answer after reading all the other ones posted!!

stick the pen in the back of the big bit with the hole in, have it just behind the bit where the spring and pin go that you're trying to put in, then drop in the spring and bottom pin in, press it down so you cant see it anymore and slide your pen forwards a bit so you cover it and it doesnt spring back up! do this for as many pins as you want, coming forwards to the front of the lock, then hold the pen there, put the other bit of your lock with the key in back in, letting the bit with the key push out the pen.

i've tried to make this as simple as possible, but you NEED that round bit to put in the lock, its is absolutely, 100% impossible without one, so get one! make one, buy one, use a flippin carrot cut to size! anything the right size will do! just make sure you use one!

If you are only going to place two pinsin it remember to remove the other three driver pins and springs or they get stuck at the shear line and thats 3 springs gone :(

A plug folower is a great tool, well I don't have one yet I just let everying fly everywhere then place them back in when rebuilding the lock but one I would imagine would save alot of time.

Somehow, "Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em" keeps coming to mind:

http://www.steve-p.org/sm/

It won't work you know. Even with the most detailed instructions, Kevin will still manage to put the key pins in chambers 1 & 2, and put the springs and drivers in chambers 4 & 5. I just know it.

Sorry Kevin, we love you really. ;)

sorry for the little faith we have in you, but this really shouldn't be that difficult.
