How essentual are slim line picks

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

How essentual are slim line picks

I heard that the locks in the UK are thinner than normal locks, does this mean if I order a standard set that they may not fit most locks?
Is there where that states the dimentions? that would be very helpful.

standard sets are just blanks for filing the real thing out of

Why dontcha try making your own picks first?
Pyro made a great video and personally i think that if you make your own you can decide exactly how thin or thick or whatever you want. :P

My father said that if I could find him some side on photos or dimentions/plans he would make me them when he has a spare moment at work although he has been trying to get me to make everything and lets just say I'm along way from an engineer, yesturday I went lock collecting and had to crowbar most of them out (as working out a way to take apart the door was rather hard).

Anyway, so standard would hopfully fit, if not just file them down?

I don't use anything but slimlines. They give me a lot more wiggle room in the keyway no matter how thick or thin it is. All in all, they
re more comfortable to use.

i have a south ord standard set and a slim line set, i tried picking padlocks with both and managed to get the padlocks with the standard set as well as the slim lines, but when it came to picking euro locks it was near impossible with the standards, but i got it with the slimlines.

i suppose the moral of the story is that slim lines are a great help in picking euro locks, they can be used on any lock at all, i find they give better feedback as well, but that could just be me going mad

i havent looked at prices on websites for shipping etc, but if you felt like it, you could buy a standard and a slimline hook and 1/2 diamond to see the sizes and get an idea of what you like. if you want an idea of size, look in the thread about raimundos picks (i think) and theres a picture somewhere of loads of different makes of tool side by side, including normal and slim line south ords.

I did remove all the screws, after sawing it out it just seems to be glued around the lock.
