Maybe I can try to help. What he is talking about are called "Spool" Pins (which has been discussed a lot before, search to find more credible information).
Anyway, spool pins are pins made of tiny fibers like you would find on a spool of thread. These fibers are very delicate when pressure is applied directly to them (which doesn't happen with normal use of the key). They are designed so when someone trys to manipulate it with a pick, the fibers bend and jam, making the lock impossible to open even with the key. To fix this, some clever people have found that if you put a circular disk (small enough to fit in the keyway) on top of your pick, it will apply a more key-like pressure to the pin and the fibers won't bend. This is a little tricky, some have even found it is usefull to take a small half diamond and bend it. The trick is to not be pressing up the pin with a sharp edge like on a normal pick, but rather with a flat edge. Best of luck.
Like I said before, you should really search more about spool pins and other security pins because I may have a few details a tad bit wrong.
