OK i am a newb and i wanna learn how to lock pick cause well its can be useful sometimes when needed

PLEASE someone who know the easiest way please tell me! PLEASE im confused im only 13 .

Also i want to learn the kind they use to lock a fence and combonation locks with keyholes in the back and i will complete my goal. :roll:

using a key is the easiest way to open a lock. picking takes lots of time, effort, patience and skill, the easiest lock in the world can take ages if you're having a bad day/its a nasty lock/you're stressed/you're being watched etc etc...

if you really want to learnt to pick, start from the ground up, read through the FAQ's, the stickies, the MIT guide, watch the lockpicking flash animations on http://www.howthingswork.com, then search for the information you want to know about if its not already been answered by that lot, its almost definatly been discussed before several times.

if you cant be bothered to search or read for the information you want, this probably isnt the hobby for you, searching and reading helps teach the patience you'll need when picking locks!

wow...2 posts since i started typing, sounds like you intentions arent exactly legal, which will get you precisey nowhere on this forum, it makes us all look bad if we go around teaching criminals things.

the basic rule here is if you dont own the lock or have specific consent to be picking it given by the owner of the lock, you shouldnt be picking it.

I hate the newbies that come in demanding we tell them the easiest way to open a lock... If you are looking for the easiest way buy a pick gun or use the keys. One good template that was showed in the general chatter was NO BREST FEEDING. Just take some initiative and do some searching.

no i really don't think geek has got old and bitter oh hang on sorry its geek we are talking about of course he is bitter lol only messing with you don't take it to heart geek (all this was sarcasm and was in no way malicious or in an attempt to aggrivate so if any mods feel it was i appologise) u can't be too careful these days

Common guys, he's young and we should help him out a bit.

First off, it is definetly worth your while to search and find second opinions on everything. Everything you could possibly want to know is out there.

To pick a lock, you simply have to replicate the key. To do this, you need to find a material that will form to the shape of a key. I find that cheese (american, the type you would put on a cheese burger) works well. Don't worry about it sticking in the lock, all locks have a special lubricant in it that helps the key go in and out smoothely, which will allow the cheese to do the same. First cut a piece of it so it will fit in the lock (you want it to be about 1/2 the height of the keyway, sitting on the bottom of the keyway)- it should be as close to perfectly rectangular as possible. After getting it in the lock (be carefull and try not to squash it), you need to take a paper clip (don't unfold it, you'll need a smaller one to fit in better) and push the cheese in as far as you can (it's alright if the paper clip goes in so far that you can't reach it, keep pushing with something else if you have to). Don't worry if you think it's going ot be stuck, once it's picked, it will be forced back out from the other direction. Now that the paper clip is in, take a small hammer or something and *gently* knock the door right above the keyhole while at the same time using a flat head screw driver to apply a small circular motion to the keyhole. Evenentually all of hte pins will line up and the cylinder will turn, after which the cheese and paper clip will be forced out by a spring loaded mechanism in the back (this mechanism is there so when pranksters stick a toothpick or something in to keep the key from working it pushes it back out) Good luck!

That approach works every time for me. I have found that heating the whole lock with a hair dryer speeds up the process. Although it is noisy, I have shaved 35 seconds off my 'picking' time by doing so.

Please don't let others know of this.
