I don't so much have a problem with people not searching, as I can understand that some don't see the button, or their searches come up with a lot of topics that no one cares to sift through, but holy bajeezus people, there are at least 4 threads on the front page about starter sets, what locks to start on, etc...

Maybe there should be a pop-up when you first sign up that points out where the search button is and encourages newbies to use it.

I said very much this same thing.

Let the regular forums be completely available to guest participants.

When they sign up, they have to go through a few sticky posts or something before they can make their own posts.

Topics to include.

1. Where to get picks.
2. The best picks for a beginner.
3. Basic refresher to the MIT guide, and a link to a working version.
4. Links to a newly reorganized primer on how to make your own picks.
4a. Include a sub-section on improvised picking tools.
5. A graphical page on where the search button is, and how to use it.
6. A requirement that you introduce yourself as your FIRST post.
6a. Include a little about how you got interested in lock picking.
7. Required to read ALL of Romstar's posts concerning ethics. If there aren't enough, I'll write a few new ones.

Number seven was meant mostly as a joke, and to make sure that you guys don't think I am being cruel, almost all of this stuff could be contained in a single stick post.

It might actually contribute to everyone's enjoyment of the site and what it has to offer.

GI do yourself a favour and read through a lot of stuff to find what you want it will be good training for your lock picking as that requires even more patience and nobody else can do it for you.

Read the MIT guid to lockpicking. I just found it on google for you. Go here: http://www.capricorn.org/~akira/home/lo ... tlg-a4.pdf Read it, read it again, then when you think you have if figured out, read it again! THEN worry about getting picks.

You may even consider printing it off and getting it bound. You can have it done for about $3 bucks at OfficeMax, or Kinko's, Office Depot etc... That's what I did over 5 years ago. And it's been very handy.

beginners pick set would be a small one (if you're in europe get the Slim Line Euro - Japanese style picks, these are smaller)

make your own, have a look at PYRO1234321' s video search for it
