Hey everyone, newcomer here in Australia, can anyone please explain to me what the City/FPO/APO means and also since im buying from the outside of the mainland US i have to fill out the Province/AP/AE space it says enter my locality in there, what should i fill out in that, my suburb? So please anyone who can help me.

P.S:I should expect no problem from customs? I read other peoples posts where they have got them no problem, i would just like some clarification.

Take appropriate action if this post is in the wrong place, Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome :D

APO/FPO means Army Post Office and Fleet Post Office respectively. They're special addresses of post office boxes/post offices within military stations either in the US or abroad.

I think the AE/AP spaces are just if you're using said APO address, in that case you should put your state abbreviation, for example NY.

That's about all the address info which should be filled when ordering (refer to example address plus add "Australia" of course) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postcodes_in_Australia

Just found this thread about lockpick laws in Australia viewtopic.php?t=41258 which has some other useful info too :) As you can see you shouldn't expect problems with customs.

Cheers :)

@OptikzZ:

To answer your first question:

"City" means a United States letter/parcel delivery destination that is within the territory serviced by the USPS...

"FPO" means "Fleet Post Office" and refers to the zip codes/location names assigned to fleets/duty stations for personnel serving in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Coast Guard...

"APO" means "Army/Air Force Post Office" and refers to the zip codes/location names assigned to the posts/bases/duty stations for personnel serving in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force...

To answer your second question:

What Address does mail you currently receive have printed on it ? The only information you would need to add to that would be the destination country of Australia...

To answer your third question:

A lot of the "customs" issues that people speak of here relate to either the taxable value/import duties that are assigned to a parcel containing what is considered commercial merchandise, OR a package being detained because possession of it's contents is restricted in the delivery area and the responsible custom's service wants to verify you are properly licensed and therefore allowed to receive the materials in the package...

You will need to research your specific regulations in Australia about possession of lockpicks and whether or not they are allowed to be shipped through the normal post office system or you will have to pay for a common carrier service like UPS or FedEx to make the delivery...

P.S. Gloves beat me by a few minutes, I guess I didn't type as fast this morning...
